For my freshman year, I attended Bellaire High School. It was a great school, with many people and different types of activities. The classes I was most successful in were Italian and geography class. I really succeeded in Italian class because I have a passion for Italian culture and language. It was the same in geography class, because I was really interested in the world and culture.
However, I struggled a lot that year at Bellaire. All of my classes were Pre-AP, and I really struggled to keep a decent grade in those classes. At the beginning of the year, I was testing out different classes and activities such as track. This was difficult for me as well, as I wasn’t used to running and working out intensely. By the end of the first semester I was in the classes I needed to be and did well.
Even though I was doing much better at Bellaire, I felt like I didn’t fit in. I met a lot of new people and hung out with old friends, but I wasn’t really having fun. I felt that I had to enjoy my high school years, and that wasn’t happening at Bellaire. For that reason, I considered moving schools. I thought about it for a while, considering if it would be worth it. I was at a school that many kids wished they’d go too; but it just wasn’t for me. I thought about moving to several different schools such as Sharpstown High, Lee High, and International High School. The first two didn’t really convince my mom. I researched information on International High School. I had known about it since middle school, and I knew a lot of the students that attended there. I liked the fact that it was a small school, which is completely different from Bellaire. I made up my mind and applied and got accepted to International.
